The whole team did a great job and I am glad I was able to finish it off. We knew it was going to be a difficult stage with a tough final climb. Perhaps the toughest this week. We controlled the stage from the start. The boys were very strong and we finished it perfectly. I am very happy with this victory. I certainly cannot complain with how it is going after having won the Tour de l’Ain and this stage. I am happy with every race I can ride this year and I am very happy with the way things are going now. Both for me and for the team. But we are not there yet. The next three days are going to be tough and we have to stay sharp and focused.” | 2nd Thibaut PINOT (FRA/GROUPAMA - FDJ) + 8s | Nobody wanted to win on Col de Porte more than Richie PORTE (AUS/TREK - SEGAFREDO), but he finished 10th + 8s | Your Stage 2 winner and new race leader by 12s Primoz ROGLIC (TEAM JUMBO - VISMA) | Best young rider, Egan BERNAL (TEAM INEOS) before the hail came | Worsening conditions brought the podium cermonies to an abrupt end | The chaotic hail storm wrap-up to Stage 2 with the deflated podium |

But the switch in mindset also gave us the opportunity to race aggressively today. And we did. It was one of the toughest days on the bike. It was full throttle from the start. I had seen that everyone was riding on their limits. It was a bit of a poker game at the end. I waited for the right moment and then went all in. It was still a long way, but it luckily worked out well. Today was a beautiful day for me. I’ve been training very hard for this lately, also to be ready for the Tour. This is a confirmation that things are going in the right direction. The team is very strong. Anyone on the team can win. It is a privilege to be able to ride for this team and to get my chance now and then.” | Your 2020 Criterium du Dauphine podium: 2nd Thibaut PINOT (FRA/GROUPAMA - FDJ) + 29s, 1st Daniel MARTINEZ (COL/EF PRO CYCLING) 21:44:58, 3rd Guillaume MARTIN (FRA/COFIDIS) + 41s |
